UW Summer Youth ProgramsCo-Teacher, June 2020-August 2020

  • Co-taught the courses "Creative Writer's Workshop" and "Writing for College Readiness" for high school students.

  • Developed comprehensive lessons to expand critical thinking skills, and adjusted them based on student feedback.

  • Independently lead lessons including "A Brief History of Teaching English in the US," "Understanding the Reverse Outline," and "Worldbuilding in 2020."

  • Assembled materials and resources to assist lead teachers in adjusting their lessons to an online platform and shifting pedagogy to address anti-Black racism and the COVID-19 epidemic.

Associated Recreation CouncilLead Counselor, October 2019-March 2020 (job ended due to COVID-19)

  • Co-lead team of counselors at Seattle elementary school.

  • Initiated Read-Aloud Time, where I would read one book from the Seattle Public Library, and one book that a child chose. Also gave opportunities for children to read to the class.

  • Worked one-on-one with children on improving their reading comprehension and helping them read out loud.

  • Engaged students in conversations about wellness and community values.

Northwest Film ForumEducation Intern, June 2019-March 2019 (ended due to COVID-19)

  • Assembled teacher resources and procedures for workshop spaces.

  • Pitched a grant and participated on a committee for designing and creating a grant for LGBTQ+ and POC filmmakers.

Interdisciplinary Writing Service, Writing Tutors, September 2018-June 2019

  • Tutored university peers in academic and creative writing.

  • Approached tutoring with collaboration in mind, prioritizing the autonomy of the writer.

  • Mentored each other on tutoring ethics: including racial-ethnic, lingual, and gendered positionalities.

UW Summer Youth ProgramsTeaching Assistant, June 2018-August 2018

  • Assisted in teaching both the middle school and high school editions of the "Writer's Workshop."

  • Collaborated with lead teachers in leading creative writing exercises to middle and high school students in two-week sessions.

  • Independently developed and taught poetry writing lessons, focusing on form and deep self-reflection.
